Climate Change Workshops

Exciting OFA Climate Change Workshops for Organic Producers

The Organic Federation of Australia has obtained funding from the Farmready Industry Grants program to undertake a project to assist organic producers to understand climate change risks and actions they can take to mitigate the risk.

Thirty-six workshops specifically designed for organic producers will be run across Australia in all states.

The workshops cover a background to climate change and the carbon market, farming strategies that maintain production and sequester carbon, marketing and business impacts of climate change and how to find opportunities such as a value chain approach to marketing. The workshops bring together the latest research and best practice from organic producers from all around the world.

Workshops provide operators with a manual that includes chapters on managing vegetative cover, use of green manures, cover crops, living mulches, crop rotations, native & improved pastures, managing water resources, monitoring, reporting and understanding the changing organic marketplace.

The full day workshops will cost $40 for certified organic producers, including a copy of the OFA Climate Change Manual. A special discounted workshop and 12 months OFA membership package of $110 is optional.

Workshops will be delivered by

  • TM Organics (TMO presenters Tim Marshall, Brad Nott & Paul Cooper) and
  • Soil Systems Australia (SSA presenters Adam Willson & Greg Paynter).

Numerous workshops have already been conducted in April, May and June.
